I.O.U. sweatshirt. Z Cavaricci pants. Red reeboks. A gold chain with nameplate charm and a cubic zirconia stud earring. Not to mention, hair spiked with wet gel while wafting in Drakkar Noir cologne. Everyday wardrobe? At least, not in November 2003. But in November 1988, it was arguably in style, yet, forgetable. In 25 years, cars become classics, a new generation forms and everything changes, especially clothes.

Sometimes, we have to travel back in time to learn about the present. After freezing my ass off in the streets, searching the vintage stores for the perfect 80’s costume, I decided to take my ass inside and on the net. The craze right now in vintage clothing land is old tee shirts and random trucker hats that say just about anything. We’ve all seen many youths wandering around the cities looking extremely hip and casual in this attire. “In”. To avoid the cold and also look hot, try www.dirtyshirty.com for tees and www.xochico.com for hats. The best of yesterday, today, for today. Trucker hats and tee shirts are being created right now in 2003, to look like something old and ratty. And being that I was looking for something old, ratty and clearly out of style, I had great difficulty.

So vintage clothing is not sold at vintage clothing stores. Just new stuff that looks old at ridiculously expensive prices. I had to go to a thrift store which is designed so that poor people could afford to clothe themselves. Vintage clothing stores sell old looking clothes for a lot of money and thrift stores sell old clothes for cheap. Ok settled. Now I can go find my costume. And too avoid spending all my money, hopping vintage and thrift and stopping for another winter article in order to prevent frost bite during my expedition, I went home.

Solution. Buy online. And wait till the clothes are delivered. Or you’ll be outside unprepared, the wind will kick up or it will start raining and you’ll be fucked. Chilled to the bone. Cold where you can feel your own skeleton. No good. To prevent being caught in the rain buy an arty umbrella at www.mip.dezines.com. For this conversation, some other points of interest in cyber space; www.millerhats.com have some awesome head ware to check out. Everyone needs a stetson. www.onlygloves.com has so much of the obvious that you can buy one pair for everyday until the thaw and www.smartwool.com will keep those feetsies warm until the bears come out of hibernation. For the outdoors man, check out www.rei.com or www.ems.com. REI and Eastern Mountain Sports have the best selection of everything anyone needs for winter sports and leisure. And if you like to sip wine by the fireplace, try www.highsierrafurs.com and find yourself a hottie to curl in with. There are millions of web sites for the latter but I wouldn’t know any of their domain names.

However, if by the off freakish chance that you are searching for 80’s clothes, I have done the research. The first stop of this surfing mission is www.inthe80s.com. In The 80’s is the ultimate guide to everything that came from that pretentious decade especially clothes. Here are some more points along the road; Omnipotent stronghold B.U.M. Equipment still on top at www.bumequipment.com while former champion, Champion, resides at www.sweatshirtsunlimited.com. Girbaud is also still kicking the ass of the jeans and pants contingency at www.girbaud.com while Z Cavaricci and IOU have tightened the operation to only women’s wear. Although, they can still be found at www.zcavaricci.com and www.designhq-fashion.com respectively.

But what would your fabulously classic clothes be without the right accessories? High top red and black Reeboks can be acquired by auction at www.ebay.com and Drakkor Noir permeates from www.perfumeamerica.com. And if you want to get really stylish, go to www.dep.com and get some gel for the wet look. And to compliment your shiny hair go to the local pawn shop and buy a thin gold chain and if you look hard enough I’m sure you can find a name plate to match or maybe just an Italian horn. Bottom line, if these last two paragraphs have moved you in any way check out the galleries at www.iroc-z.com. Self explanatory. In this world there is something for everyone, costume, warmth or the height of fashion. It can all be found online, so don’t get caught old in the cold.
