Women Are Better Looking Than Men

Being that this is an online men's magazine, the topic of this article should come as no shock. It might even read a little redundant and superfluous, but wait, there is an interesting and perhaps unique insight I have to share with you. And that insight is of course, that women are more attractive than men. Aesthetically speaking, they simply look better.

This is a tricky matter to address. Obviously we all approach this subject with very ingrained biases. For the record I am a heterosexual male. Now one might think that I should at least be bisexual before making anything close to an objective conclusion on this topic- but I'm not bisexual. And I don't care about this column enough to change that.

But I do know beyond the shadow of a doubt, that women are aesthetically superior to men. Not all women, and not all men, but on average, this is the incontrovertible truth.

Before I continue I know that many of you are already thinking- this argument is flawed, since beauty is a societal construct. What is beautiful is determined by what society has deemed beautiful, and that is all.

Well, I recognize this fact. Beauty is a societal construct. What is beautiful could easily have been ugly if not for a few largely random factors that have shaped mankind along the way. That being said however, in our present modern society, beauty, albeit contingent upon society- is still consistent. There still is something called "beauty." It exists. Just because this modern and largely western conception of beauty is not static or eternal, does not therefore mean it does not accurately describe what is beautiful. In this place and in this time it is accurate. There is no guarantee as to what the term "beautiful" will entail in the next century, but for now, it is what it is.

Ok that's out of the way. So why exactly are women more beautiful than men? Or the better question, and the one I'd like to tackle is- how do we know that they are more beautiful? The signs are everywhere. There are a myriad of things in our culture and behavior that suggest and affirm this.

The first big indication that women are more attractive than men is blatantly on display every time you go to the supermarket or bookstore. Look at the magazine rack. Which gender do you see? Women. Well one could retort that these are largely women's magazines. But the best selling men's magazines have women gracing their covers as well. Strictly men's magazines such as GQ often feature attractive women. When was the last time you saw a man on the cover of Glamour or Cosmopolitan? Sometimes I see men on the cover of Redbook, but we all know that Redbook is one of Satan's most prized mouthpieces.

So men like magazines with women. And women like magazines with even more women. What does this tell us? It tells us either that most women who read magazines are secretly lesbians, or that women are just plain more attractive to the human eye regardless of whether that eye belongs to a man or woman.

It's the same for other products. Perfume and cologne are both sold by women. The best way to sell perfume to women is by using beautiful women in the advertising campaign. The best way to sell cologne is to do the same. From my perspective, for my male commercials this makes perfect sense. These commercials are essentially telling me that if I use this product and take on this product's style, I will get hot chicks. Now if that's not an incentive to buy shit, I don't know what is.

But the commercials aimed at women, they present a bafflement. They have beautiful women as well. But what's the logic? If you buy this product you will be a hot chick? On its own, that does make some sense. Who wouldn't want to be hot? But likewise, don't men want to be hot as well? Sure I'd like to be a really hot guy- but only as far as it helps me attain hot chicks. So a cologne commercial with just a bunch of well cut and chiseled guys running around in spandex just might be an effective ploy to trick me into buying cologne.

So why don't the perfume commercials subscribe to the same logic as cologne commercials? Why don't they just show some hot guys and tell the women- if you buy this perfume this is what you get, burning hot man meat!
