| Orson Welles began making Kane at the age of 23. To think that at such a young age, he would go on to create Hollywood's concensus masterpiece, in unreal. To look at the innovations in the art of filmmaking that broke through with Kane, is just astonishing. No one had shot or lit a film like this before, and it took a kid that fought the system his whole life, to make one of the most important pieces of art from the 20th century. That the Academy missed the boat on voting for Kane as the best film just shows how far ahead of its time the film was. How many people today revere that year's winner, How Green Was My Valley?
